Your first appointment will be 60 minutes and focus on understanding your mental health history, current concerns, and treatment goals. We'll discuss your symptoms, medical history, medications, and what brings you to seek care. This helps us develop a personalized treatment plan together.
Appointment frequency varies based on your individual needs and treatment plan. Initially, you might come weekly or bi-weekly, then less frequently as you stabilize. Some patients need monthly appointments for medication management, while others may need more frequent support. We'll work together to find the right schedule for you.
It's completely normal and expected to have emotional reactions during your appointment. We have tissues available, and our providers are experienced in supporting patients through difficult emotions. Take your time, and remember that showing emotion is a healthy part of the healing process.
Absolutely not. You can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. We understand that building trust takes time, and we'll never pressure you to discuss anything you're not ready to talk about. We can always explore topics more deeply in future appointments.
The therapeutic relationship is crucial to successful treatment. If you don't feel comfortable, please let us know. We can discuss your concerns and, if needed, help you find a better fit with another provider. Your comfort and trust are essential to your healing process.
We currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Optum/UnitedHealthcare, and Aetna. We are actively working on credentialing with additional providers including Cigna and Savannah Business Group (SBG). Coverage varies by specific plan, so please verify your benefits before your appointment.
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover). Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
Not necessarily. While some patients may benefit from medication right away, we take a thoughtful approach to prescribing. We'll discuss all treatment options, including therapy referrals, lifestyle changes, and medication if appropriate. Any medication decisions will be made collaboratively with your input and consent.
We take time to explain how medications work, what to expect, and how to manage any side effects. Our goal is to optimize your treatment while minimizing adverse effects, ensuring you feel informed and comfortable with your medication regimen. We provide comprehensive education about your medications and ongoing monitoring.
We provide comprehensive psychiatric care including medication management, brief supportive therapy, and care coordination. For intensive therapy needs, we work closely with trusted therapists in the community and can provide referrals to ensure you receive the most appropriate level of care.
Yes, everything you share is confidential and protected by HIPAA laws. The only exceptions are if you're in immediate danger of harming yourself or others, if there's suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or if we receive a court order. We'll always discuss these limits with you and will never share information without your written consent except in these rare circumstances.
Please complete our intake forms at least 24 hours before your first appointment. This includes a comprehensive intake questionnaire, medical history, current medications, and insurance information. Completing these forms in advance allows us adequate time to review your information and prepare for your visit.
We require 24-hour notice for appointment cancellations. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) may incur a fee, and no-show appointments will be charged the full session fee. We understand that emergencies happen and will work with you on a case-by-case basis.
